workshop

(Self) Accountability as (Self) Care

venue: theatre
date: Sun, 27 April
time: 11am-1pm

In advocating for the communities we serve, we often bring our personal selves into our roles. This workshop explores how self-accountability can enhance or hinder our efforts. Participants will learn to identify boundaries, shame triggers, and how to embrace conflict as an opportunity for growth.

MEET YOUR HOSTS!

Vanessa Ho (she/they)

Vanessa Ho is the Executive Director of Project X, the only rights-based sex worker organization in Singapore that provides social, legal, and emotional support for sex workers. This is a full time position that she has held since 2011, and one that has provided her many opportunities to meet and connect with sex workers in Singapore and around the world. She has written and spoken about sex work, human trafficking, rape culture, and LGBTQ rights in Singapore. Vanessa holds the view that if people can speak about sex, gender and sexuality in open and in non-judgmental ways, society will become a safer place for everyone.

nor (they/them)

nor (they/them) is the full time Programmes Manager at Project X since 2022. On a day to day basis, they manage the training and development of staff, intern and volunteers as well as spearhead the public education and comms. Their favourite part of working at Project X is being able to experience the generosity shown by sex workers in telling their stories. Outside of Project X, nor is a multidisciplinary artist, poet and 1/6th of the Studio Ong collective.

Kheng Leng (she/ her)

Kheng Leng is the Social Worker of Project X. She leads the employment programme for sex workers who intend to transition out of the sex industry. Prior to this, she worked with children from lower-income families, at-risk youths, and communities experiencing intergenerational poverty in Singapore. Kheng Leng is passionate about fostering reflexivity among community workers. She believes that reflexivity enables workers to critically examine their biases, assumptions, and actions, leading to more purposeful and sustainable work. She recently completed an ontological coaching certification with The Coach Partnership to better support fellow community workers.
